ZABO RACING ON TRACK
Sunday, 18 July, ARENDAL (Norway): Zabo Racing team principal, Jan Zaborowski, is confident that the team is moving in the right direction, and will improve each time the boat hits the water. "I am very happy how the weekend has gone so far. Times and positions are not the main issue for us. This is our first time out with this boat and the first time together for Christian and Paul, so we were more focussed on shaking-down the boat, checking that everything works as we expected after the modifications we have made. The set-up is good, the balance of the boat looked good and I would say we are where we expected to be."
A blistering start that moved Relekta from fifth on the start line to second, then running third for over half of yesterday’s race, backed up Zaborowski senior’s comments. The only glitch of the day coming in the form of a penalty long-lap, incurred for taking a late mandatory long-lap. "Overall I am satisfied, said Christian Zaborowski. "Yesterday was all about seeing how the boat and me and Paul performed in race conditions. We made a good start round the outside of the turn, I pushed hard and Paul just had to hang in there and he did. The boat is very good, fast off the mark and good in the turns.
"Each time we go out our times come down. The important thing now is for us to get used to each other and to understand how the other works, but already I can see that Paul has a very good feel for the boat.
"The big improvement in the times is the lines we are taking now and the way we are going into the turns. We have made one or two adjustments, changed our gearing, but the big differences is us, the pilots. The more time we get in the boat together the better the understanding will become.
"We know we are not in a position to run at the front just yet, but that is our target."
